THE ROYAL BAHAMAS POLICE RESERVE BAND
With the directive from the Commandant of the Royal Bahamas Police Reserve, the band was formed on Wednesday January 4th, 2004 as a community outreach program under the directorship of R/Sgt. 191 Ferguson. It was named The Police Reserve Community Band, it was comprised of reserve police officers and civilians. The musicians were from within the community possessing varying musical levels and backgrounds. The band performed for various community and Reserve events.
On August 3, 2005 the Royal Bahamas Police Reserve Band was officially unveiled by The Hon. Dr. Cynthia Pratt, Minister of National Security, D.P.M of The Bahamas, at the Police Reserves 2005 graduation ceremony.
The band's primary duties are to assist the Royal Bahamas Police Police Force, perform at Police Reserve and community functions throughout The Bahamas.
In it's short existence, the band has performed for many Police Reserve functions, including funerals, community (church & civic), private functions, and more.
To date the band has performed in Abaco, Grand Bahama, Andros, Eleuthera, and Long Island, inkeeping with its charge to assist the Police Force throughout the Bahamas.
The band has been elevated toanother level with its first international performance in The Turks And Caicos Island in August of 2007. This was an historic moment for Royal Bahamas Police Reserves, and The Bahamas.
The Pop Band is a segment in the band that performs at various events.
